Windy adventures

ok, so this is the sequel to my first post about iceland in wich i wrote to you about all the good things that you can find there, free perfumated hot water, a crisp cold weather, gentle cold breezes cutting your face, and warm and loving Family members! YAY! a toast for the last statement!

now i'll relate some of the adventured that we had while there.
on the first day we went to a festival in some "distant" village, an Icelander would say that it's far, but i don't think they are that used to big expanses of land, to me it was like going from where i live to Madrid.... sometimes they are even lazy to go to the other side of town since they say that it's far, but the capital, Reykjavic can be seen in half an hour, like seeing the most important places; and crossing it from one side to the other might take you 15 minutes by car. we should take some of those spoiled icelanders and bring them to cities like London, Mexico, or Buenos Aires.... there they'll learn the true meaning of a BIG city :p.
so, as i was saying we went to this festival, but there wasn't enough space for all in the cars, so dear Anj and i went hitchhiking. it was my very first hitchhiking experience, and PTL it was good! after a loong time waiting, a guy stopped and took us exactly to where we were going, despite he had to get out of his way to get us there! GBH! it was a good experience for me.
now there in the festival, it was very weird because of all things they were celebrating the day of Ireland!!!?? can you believe it? it's as if here in Spain we make a festivity dedicated to France, it's downright crazy... but anyway, i guess they need some distraction from their boring daily lives... they really should join the Family to find excitement in life! to add that spice they're missing to fully savour the true flavour of life.

while in the festival,i got to admire the beauty of the local women, wich i classify in 2 cathegories: the fat ones, and the super hot and cute slim ones, of this last cathegory you can find brunettes and blondes alike, and each one has smthg very mistic around them... might be the unadulterated viking blood in their veins? who knows...
following you can grace your sight with some of these little viking princesses :) the little kids were just sooo cute! i mainly took pictures of the kids for the home to have pictures of happy customers for when they go to other festivals facepainting.

anyway, now, the next day it didn't lack any ecitement at all for we had a BBQ! for wich they invited all their active members and friends, and i got to meet them all. i must say that they are very sweet people, their spirit is alike of the eastern europeans, very open and talkative to the things of the spirit world and religion, much unlike the usual european you might find on the street in the "rotten" continent, looks like beeing so apart from all the rest of europe has kept them civilized and haven't partaken soo much of the madness that is surrounding us nowadays in this crazy world that we're living in. that afternoon after the BBQ we got a guitar and started to play songs and it was very inspiring, and even Ely and i got the courage to sing some flamenco style songs that we just invented on the spot :p ppl were like WOAH! it sounds soo cool! what does it mean? and Ely and i were like.... u don't wanna know :P we were just teasing each other by dedicating parts of the songs to each one of us, like, ooooh santiii.. how stupid you are! you are soo stupid that you could drown in the shower... and stuff like that :D extremely funny for those that could understand spanish ;) i'll post a video of it if i can.

let's move on to the last day, in wich we went to an open air museum about Iceland during the day, where we learnt cool things about the old times, such as the following:

in the times when the hunger striked the island, they would make shoes out of the fish skin, and when they broke they would eat them.... you may find a sample in the picture of Gabe following their sample.

other tidbits were like they would all sleep in one room, the parents along with all the children, and they would sleep 3 on each bed. i really don't know how could this be possible, they were sooo narrow!

oh and a really cool thing :P if you were passing by and you were a wealthy or important man, the parents would put him to sleep in the bed of the eldest daughter :P by following this custom many children were born in those days :D

to end, one of their unusual customs, wich i find quite barbaric, is that at church, the women would sit on the north side, and the men towards the south, that way, when the cold wind blew and cold air would get in between the wood, it would get to the women first, and by the time it reached the men, it was already warm..... that's so ungentlemanly.... tsk tsk, i would have shown them a thing or two...

there were many other interesting and cool things that we did and that happened during those unforgettable 3 days, but if i wrote them all i would keep you for ours here, and my intention is not to bore you... so with this post i'll end my rumblings about the splendid time i spent in Iceland. if you ever wanna join a cool home, go there :D

this last picture is dedicated to you the Reykjavic home, ILY and miss you all sooo much!

Cold weather Rocks!!!!!!

aaaaah.. such a nice and charming little country is Iceland, it's got a crisp cold weather that just drives me crazy :P with some other cold winds that feel so good cutting your face :D

i visited iceland in July, and stayed there for 4 days, and what memorable days they were! the home members of the Reykjavik home are just great i love each and everyone of them! let's see there is Thad FGA who is a great person, very patient and loving with whom Ely and i had a great time with when he showed us the city and told us some cool facts about it, like for example, hot weather in Iceland is heated naturally, they bring it down to some rocks down the earth who are ..... let's just say that they are very very hot :P, actually the water that comes out of the tap burns you if you're not carefull with it, and the best part is that it's free! you don't even have to pay for it ;) , now as everything on this life.... not everything that glitters is gold.. and the same happens with this water, as it has a special odour that you'll find interesting at the start, then quite a bit bothering later, and at the end you just get used to it. wht happens is that since it's sulfuric water it smells like boiled eggs, and thus taking a shower in those conditions with that free perfumated water is not one of the best experiences, but hey! can't complain, i guess people have it worst in other cold countries like russia who don't have free hot water.....
another interesting thing that i got to learn about this hot water, is that they also use it for heating some roads in the winter :P imagine.... laying hot water pipe under the roads just to keep it warm, in some countries that would be the cause for an uproar from the poor working class :P

oh well... please forgive me, i got carried away talking about this interesting travel tidbits. i was talking about the home members.. let's see.. then there was sweet and quiet Sara, with whom i became good friends :) and the last of the FGA's was Mary, a very dear woman with a bubbly personality :D
also there were Nick and Katja, an SGA happy couple with their three little smoochies, who brought a lot of life and fun to the house.
anyway, i don't want to write 2 pages about the members of the home... so i'll just mention them quickly :D there was dear Brian, an on-fire hapy and fun to be around fellow, hope to see you again man i love your humour and your funny faces :)!

then comes Anj, my looong time dear friend who i met for first time in almost 5 years! will never forget you anj you're so huggable :)! ILY!

then there was another cheery soul, and that was Lisa! i wont forget you either, nor how you left us on the street and you went away with the car :P i miss your pretty self :p.

There was also Gabe with whom i got to develope a good friendship, we spent some good long times talking taking walks in the nightless days at 2 am in the morning :P

now how can i forget my other dear friend Anna.... my clumsy pooh bear ;) she's soo sweet, anyone who knows her will agree with me.

next in the line comes irish David, i don't know him that much but he sounds like a nice chap who can do cool things like edit videos :D

and to end, i have the honour to introduce you to the always cheerfull and happy Sara Powdrill! the one who could brighten your day just with her presence, u can't fool me with your tough exterior, i know you have a dear soft heart :P ILY!!

oh well, since this post is getting too long, i'll leave the other cool things i did there along with some more pictures for a next post :) keep tuned!

reasons and yet more excuses

ok, first i think you all deserved an explanation and an answer as to why the disdain in keeping this blog up to date and well.. to be honest, i got a bit down... because it took a lot of time to keep it up to date, smthg wich sometimes i didn't have, and also because since my sister and i are living the same things and we post about the same things and important events, and she writes them in a better way, i thought that ppl would just read hers... i must admit that she writes things in a much more interesting and fun way to read, but anyway, PTL! i got over it, and here i am writing again :) keep tuned in for i'll be writing about my trips to Iceland, London, Milano, EuRoCk, and Valencia, as well as posting about other important things such as my life :P
